SAM Lite

Spatial Tapestry is pleased to announce the release of "SAM Lite"; a complete 'End to End' solution for the upgrade of ESRI Shape Files and MapInfo TAB Files.

If the image below looks all to familiar, then read on.

You would like to solve the problem using existing tools, but the shear scope of the data precludes their use. It is impossible to rubbersheet tens/hundreds of square kilometers, and if you have a piecemeal approach then there are edge effects noone really wants to think about.

Spatial Tapestry's solution implements the entire 'Work Flow' needed to facilitate and greatly automate this process.

Spatial Tapestry's solution can break up huge areas into Temporary Work Areas, each some ten or more square kilometres in size, and for each sequentially can carry out an upgrade, find and fix errors, and check the upgraded data back into the master themes. Points that move outside the current TWA are tracked and are prevented from being moved when subsequent TWAs are processed.

This first release deals with 3 common aspects of the Spatial Upgrade challenge.

  1. The movement of utilities, assets, annotation and most polyline/gon layers to a new representation of the Digital Cadastre.
  2. The movement of the existing Digital Cadastre, utilities, assets, annotation and most polyline/gon layers to occupations as observed in orthophotography.
  3. The movement of the existing Digital Cadastre, utilities, assets, annotation and most polyline/gon layers to survey accurate boundaries in the form of Shape Files, Tab Files and DXF Files.

For an overview of the process, please view this 'Presentation'.

You may also download a demonstration CD containing the software and various tutorials (310 Meg), or just download the software (28 Meg). Of course we would also be happy to send you the demo CD by post.

After you install the software, follow these instructions to launch it with the sample data.

After launching the software, follow these instructions to activate the software. This is required even in the trial version.
